ABOUT SISIKE
Sisike stands as a symbol of hope, radiating light and strength to those facing the harsh reality of lacking basic necessities crucial for survival. The unfortunate events that individuals face serve as an undeniable challenge. Driven by compassion, a group of benevolent individuals, particularly children, aspire to make a difference by raising awareness and extending assistance to the victims(families) of this ill-fated circumstance.
Founded on the principle of changing mindsets and providing strength, Sisike is an organization that derives its name from a blend of two languages. In Igbo, 'Ike' translates to strength, while the concept of 'Sis' is inspired by the Adinkra symbol. Initially seeking a name that conveyed raising awareness in an African language, Zulu was chosen. However, the translation 'Sisike' from English turned out to mean "cut us." Swiftly responding to this unexpected twist, the organization underwent a creative transformation process.
Contemplating the idea of an abbreviation, combining 'Save,' 'In,' 'Saving,' and 'Ike,' the Igbo word for strength, was considered. Dissatisfied with the abbreviated form, a meaningful fusion emerged, incorporating the symbolism of the Adinkra symbol.
The strength represented by 'Ike' in Igbo. The process also involved creating a logo inspired by the Ashanti adinkra symbol 'nkyimkyim,' symbolizing the unexpected turns faced by families in Keta affected by the flood. Ensuring cultural sensitivity, the chosen logo retains the essence of the Ghanaian culture.
In essence, Sisike encapsulates a journey of resilience, compassion, and cultural significance, driven by the mission to bring about positive change in the lives of those impacted by unforeseen adversities.
